In addition to the filling process itself, there is a whole range of dosing applications that need special consideration. For example, the dosing of jam topping onto yoghurt. In this case, the appearance of the product is important so it requires particularly gentle and pressureless handling. Or medium is added to another product in a mixing process – here, too, our customers expect reliable and automatic dosing.

The following application examples show how customers have benefited from our know-how:
Dosing of Pizza Paste
When you have a frozen pizza, the tomato paste probably got there using a ViscoTec dosing unit. The customer wants to apply paste to approx. 1 million pizzas per day, 12 pizzas per second, running parallel on a conveyor belt that moves continuously throughout the dosing process. The dosing quantity is 7 ml per pizza and paste is applied in a circular motion. The pizza paste contains small solid chunks about 3 mm in size. The installation must be absolutely CIP capable.
Dosing of Marinades
The customer, a producer of frozen seafood, wants to refine various types of seafood such as calamari, mussels or scampis by adding marinades from different storage tanks (marination tumblers). Until now he has used buckets for this, but because this method is too inaccurate, he would like a system that is easy to operate and more precise. Depending on the product, dosing quantities of 25 - 30 kg should be added in approx. 2 minutes. The marinades are oil-based and have a high solids content, e.g. flavourings and salt. The viscosities range from 1,000 to 1,500 mPas.
Application of Jam to Yogurt
How does the jam get on the yogurt? A large dairy factory had this problem, too.
The customer wants to apply a small amount of jam to square, prefilled yogurt or curd cheese pots. It is crucial that the jam topping is applied evenly and looks appealing. To achieve this, very careful, pressureless dosing is essential. A total of eight pots run parallel and the dosing time is 2 seconds for 30 ml per pot. The fruit mixture contains fruit pieces up to 6 mm in size. The product is shear-sensitive and must not be squashed.
